Blog 7 - Day 6
Boozhoo to all present, (Hello in Ojibwemowin),
For our final hoorah, our main focus was reflection.
Today's journey began with some deep and quiet reflection at the medicine wheel on the property. We thought over the entirety of our trip through a guided meditation. Then we returned to the main area and began our basket weaving activity with April Stone, a black ash weaver enthusiast and pro, as well as a member of the Ojibwe tribe, Bear clan. While the process was strenuous and an uphill battle, in the end we persevered and everyone will be leaving their journey successfully with a handmade woven basket! Be sure to be on a lookout for them tomorrow :). We also had our last sandwich delight which was bittersweet.
We continued our reflection with graphing our emotional journey throughout the trip. We reflected on the ups and on the downs, seeing how our group at whole was connected. We then got our hands dirty and cleaned the entire house, from sweeping, to folding, to wiping we cleansed the whole house. We had time to pack and rest before prepping dinner and heading off to the potluck. Many new connections and friendship were formed with insightful conversations around the characteristics of white supremacy. Following this educational time, we made a pit stop at a local dairy farm. We stocked up on some dairy delights, including pints of ice cream, and ice cream sandwiches.
We ended the night with our final afternoon check-in and we are prepping for a 5:50 am wakeup tomorrow to hit the rec center to enjoy the sauna and jump in the lake once more.
