Blog 5 - Day 4 (Half way :)
Greetings fellow family, friends, and acquaintances,
Today marked the halfway point of our bountiful Wisconsin journey. To begin, we ventured off to Liam our instructor's, house where we acquired bug nets essential to our spiritual harvesting journey. As our journey went on we were educated on the history of leeks. We discovered multiple groves of the green, leafy friends, ramps, leeks (major shout to Solomon's grove of leeks, he was very proud). We harvested a plentiful cornucopia of leek leafs and bulbs, which we used in our dinner which we will get to later ;).
We returned to our red abode, and headed up the hill to reflect in the meadow. We discussed what we have enjoyed on this trip, and what we would like to see less of. It was very productive! We then packed our bags and headed to the hike at Myrtle beach. The hike was the longest yet, but oh so worth it! Despite the increase in difficulty we persevered for over an hour and made it to the sea cave look out. We took some flicks and explored the area for a little. We then headed back to the beach area and believe it or not, we jumped in! Bodhi, Lauren, Bella, Henry, Rex, Sophie, MBS, Evan, Alex, Marin, fully submerged in the icy superior lake. Another shout to Solomon who only committed halfway :(. We ran back to the vans to warm up, where Solomon was viciously attacked by not one, but TWO ticks. They were killed and no lyme disease was acquired. We caught a cheesy sneaky MBS smirk as he looked out at the beautiful view of The Lake Superior, a truly rare sight.
We came back for dinner and Marin and Tess prepared a scrumptious and sumptuous leek pasta dish. While they worked hard in the kitchen, the other children created some lovely modeling clay tortoise sculptures. Bodhi and Lauren G tied for best sculpture. We also played some lovely rounds of UNO in which sneaky Liam T and Lauren G (not sneaky) won! We ended off our beautiful day with a nice warm fire in which we roasted marshmallows. We also played a couple rounds telephone which ended unsuccessfully.
That's all everyone, peace and love to all,
Bodhi, Sophie, Lauren G, Solomon M, Bella, Liam, Lauren R
