Blog 6 - Day 5

 Salutations family friends and countrymen, 

    We began our day with an early start; breakfast was at 7:30. We then headed to catch the 9 o'clock ferry to Madeline Island! The boat ride was quick and smooth. 20 minutes later we arrived on the coast La Pointe. We explored the (tiny) town for a little and got coffee and souvenirs. We then ventured to the museum and met Mike Wiggins Jr. who taught us about the Ojibwe history on the island. He also kindly shared some of his personal stories about reciprocity. In the museum there were many artifacts including pancake griddles, meat cleavers, guns, trading rocks, as well as lighthouse bulbs. 

    Following the museum visit, lunch was served on the green grass in front of the museum. Scrumptious sandwiches and hearty snacks were enjoyed. MBS states, "no crumbs were left". After lunch, we packed up and went to the Big Bay lagoon. Rex, Evan, and Henry ran along the beach, while Bodhi, Liam, and Solomon skipped rocks and walked along the coast. Amanda and Alex practiced their acrobatic skills; Lauren R and Asher took a snooze; Sophie and Lauren G made bracelets and scavenged for sea glass; Tess and Marin wrestled, Marin established dominance–no injuries were sustained. After a relaxing day at the beach the children packed up and headed to downtown Bayfield once more. There, we enjoyed ice cream and many yummy snackies, as well as fresh caught fish from the one and only Lake Superior via Hoop's Fishery. We had a great talk with mister Hoop, "he is him" (-MBS)! 

    Upon returning to our humble red abode, Alex, Henry, Evan and Bella (team Muskrat) prepared a delicious fishy feast with the aforementioned fish. Rex, Bodhi, and Solomon played catch in the fly infested field, while Sophie and Lauren continued bracelet making. To wrap up the night, Ms. O hopped on aux and blasted some throwbacks on the kitchen boombox as Amanda, Solomon, Lauren R, Evan, Rex and others cleaned up the kitchen. Washing the dishes has never been so exciting! We are headed into watching the Bad River documentary and enjoying popcorn and candy.

Second Post-Day 1

 Today, we travelled from California to Wisconsin. The entire trip took around 12 hours to complete before we were welcomed to our beautiful home at the Potter's Farm. We had some scrumptious mushroom stew, with some protein packed meatballs to provide us with complex carbohydrates to serve as a short term energy source in addition to the protein repairing our muscle fibers from the long day of travel. While the other individuals were goofing around playing games such as "Chameleon," three special individuals took up the challenge of defeating the mountain of dishes, those brave individuals being Bodhi, Evan, and Rex. After we finished eating and cleaning, we gathered in a circle to have a communal debrief to forge a deeper connection between our newly found peers here at Potter's Farm. Each and every one of us are extremely excited for whatever beautiful mysteries the future beholds for us here at Lake Superior. (More pictures to come in future posts) Yours truly, Bo...

  We had a lot of fun today! Feeling ready and excited for the trip ahead. Learned some photography techniques and practiced with the equipment. Can't wait to see you all at 6:30 in the morning!

Blog Post 3-Day 2

 Greetings fine people,      Today we woke from our deep slumber for the first time in Wisconsin! We had eggs and bagels for breakfast. We traversed a difficult trail that led us to a lookout over the lake. It was a tad bit windy, but we had a blast. We ate our scrumptious homemade sandwiches at the lookout. We drove to the visitor center and worked with our groups to get information for our essential questions. We spent a couple hours exploring the center and going to the gift shop. After that we went to Ashland which is considered their downtown but it didn't have much to be honest compared to the great and glamorous Silicon Valley. We returned to our humble abode (red barn) and had free time. The boys played football outside and Henry was dominating. The girls rested upstairs and made bracelets and read books.  Sleep tight all, Sophie and Bodhi
