We had a lot of fun today! Feeling ready and excited for the trip ahead. Learned some photography techniques and practiced with the equipment. Can't wait to see you all at 6:30 in the morning!
Hello parentals and family, Today we started our day with some yummy bagels and oatmeal, just like the other days :). Some brave souls decided to venture out to the rec center and begin their day with a rejuvenating workout while others plunged in the icy lake. We completed our morning check in with excitement and enthusiasm. We specifically shared what thing we would like to have unlimited access to, by shooting out of our finger. It was very insightful to hear everyone's ideas. Amanda wanted money and gold, Bella desired matcha, MBS wanted electricity to be more eco friendly, Alex wanted froyo, sadly Solomon wanted petroleum which is not eco friendly, and we frowned upon it. Then we discussed some common American values, including equality, competition, materialism, individualism. We compared and contrasted these to the native values. Then we loaded the vans and headed off to the casino! We met Laughing Fox and he shared cultural sto...
Today, we travelled from California to Wisconsin. The entire trip took around 12 hours to complete before we were welcomed to our beautiful home at the Potter's Farm. We had some scrumptious mushroom stew, with some protein packed meatballs to provide us with complex carbohydrates to serve as a short term energy source in addition to the protein repairing our muscle fibers from the long day of travel. While the other individuals were goofing around playing games such as "Chameleon," three special individuals took up the challenge of defeating the mountain of dishes, those brave individuals being Bodhi, Evan, and Rex. After we finished eating and cleaning, we gathered in a circle to have a communal debrief to forge a deeper connection between our newly found peers here at Potter's Farm. Each and every one of us are extremely excited for whatever beautiful mysteries the future beholds for us here at Lake Superior. (More pictures to come in future posts) Yours truly, Bo...
Boozhoo to all present, (Hello in Ojibwemowin), For our final hoorah, our main focus was reflection. Today's journey began with some deep and quiet reflection at the medicine wheel on the property. We thought over the entirety of our trip through a guided meditation. Then we returned to the main area and began our basket weaving activity with April Stone, a black ash weaver enthusiast and pro, as well as a member of the Ojibwe tribe, Bear clan. While the process was strenuous and an uphill battle, in the end we persevered and everyone will be leaving their journey successfully with a handmade woven basket! Be sure to be on a lookout for them tomorrow :). We also had our last sandwich delight which was bittersweet. We continued our reflection with graphing our emotional journey throughout the trip. We reflected on the ups and on the downs, seeing how our group at whole was connected. We then got our hands dirty and cleaned the entire hou...
